Sony Cybershot DSC H70 Review
Everyone knows the class and the style that Sony brings to the camera world. The latest release of Sony is Sony Cybershot DCS H70. Sony Cybershot DSC H70 is your average looking camera that weighs a decent 164 grams and shares the dimension 101.6 x 57.6 x 28.6 mm making it the right size and weight to port around in your pocket or handbag. The camera palate is very dynamic as it offers you red, blue and silver to choose from. In all honesty the camera might not be over the top with its look but the company has not sacrificed comfort over look as the camera is very comfortable to hold on. Sony Cybershot DSC H70 caters a 10x optical zoom G lens, letting you close to distant objects and making your outdoor, travel and sports shoot easy. It has a wide angle zoom lens which is 25 – 250 mm (35mm equivalent) with an aperture of f/3.5 - f/8.0 at the wide end. The zoom is definitely a stand out for such a point and shoot camera. The ‘Smart zoom’ technology furthers the greatness. With the smart zoom the camera delivers 12x when you shoot at 10 megapixels. Almost a necessity in today’s age is the Image stabilization technology which the Optical SteadyShot offers in Sony Cybershot DCS H70.
It uses a built in gyro sensor that detects camera shake and automatically shifts the lens hence tackling blurs and saving the picture to end up wobbly. The 3.0 inch (230K dots) LCD screen of Sony Cybershot DCS H70 offers you a sharp display, with a neat view of natural colors. Gives you menus to read and choose from. Also one can view and preview photo’s on it even in bright sunlight. The on-screen menu of Sony Cybershot DCS H70 is quite intuitive. It’s user friendly and is easy for most to use. The simple outlook of the setting’s easy to penetrate through and work with. They pop up after you hit the menu button, after which it’s all child’s play. One worth mentioning brilliant touch Sony has added to this camera is the In-camera guide. The guide is divided into six sections: Shoot/Playback Guide, Icon Guide, Troubleshooting, Objective Guide, Keyword and History. This guide helps you eliminate guess work and gives you a step by step instruction to take a perfect shot. The Sony Cybershot DCS H70 caters a 16.1 megapixel 1/2.3 inch CCD sensor which converts the light falling on the sensor to electrical signal. Overall Sony CyberShot DCS H70 is a decent buy, recommended!
Overall Review
We all know all that there is know about the panashe of Sony, following that Sony Cybershot DCS H70 is a good buy, especially for mediocre travelling to parties and to family events. It will last long and gives you features with which an amateur as well as a new professional can work with. With a good 10x zoom and plentiful features. It is ideal to shoot any situation at any place. It’s inbuilt technology helps you cope and in result gives you bright photographs. The camera is capable of HD video making, giving it one more solid reason to be bought for. In a complete sense the camera is a mix of smart technology and fun features.
Design and Build Quality
Sony Cybershot DSC H70 is your average looking camera that weighs a decent 164 grams and shares the dimension 101.6 x 57.6 x 28.6 mm making it the right size and weight to port around in your pocket or handbag. The camera palate is very dynamic as it offers you red, blue and silver to choose from. In all honesty the camera might not be over the top with its look but the company has not sacrificed comfort over look as the camera is very comfortable to hold on. The little home for your thumb in the camera aids this cause of comfort so as to let you maneuver and shoot one handedly. The Cyber shot digital also comprise of the 3 inch LCD display which shares its space with the rest of the buttons.
Focus and Face Detection
Sony Cybershot DCS H70 gives you Sony’s usual face focusing technology. It can detect up to eight faces in a single scene and further you can set the camera to Adult or Child priority that shall optimize focus on children or adults. The Blink detection is rather delightful as it can be turned off or on to alert you when a subject’s blinking. Another cheeky but very simple little addition is the Self-Portrait Timer mode that using face detection technology automatically recognizes when a face enter the frame and triggers a 2-second timer than shoots. Finally and not the least is the Smile Shutter, with this the camera pauses the moment of image capture until the person in the frame is smiling. Very interestingly, the sensitivity of this smile shutter can be adjusted as per your need, with which you can make it either click on the slightest hint of a smile or set it high so as to not click until the subjects are smiling with their full set of teeth.
Lens and Image Stabilization

Battery
With an available lithium ION NP-BG1 battery in the Sony Cybershot DCS the camera is capable of taking up to a whooping 290 pictures! And also record videos for 145 minutes.
Video Mode
Recording in 720p MP4 movie mode the camera shoots high definition (1280 x 720) movies at 30 fps which stays a computer friendly format. The upside while recording a video is the ability to zoom in the Sony Cybershot DCS H70. However, the camera catching the zoom motor sound, producing a buzz that is simply not nice. The end quality at 720p is quite good except for the soft focus the lens kept subjects in focus. Lastly, the manual options such as : white balance etc for the video mode allow you freedom to work with.
Sensors
The Sony Cybershot DCS H70 caters a 16.1 megapixel 1/2.3 inch CCD sensor which converts the light falling on the sensor to electrical signal.
Pros
For the money it comes in. It’s a good, handy camera. Easy to carry and offers you enormous features and mode to work in. The in-camera re touching tools also gives it the edge along with the numerous shooting modes such as soft skin, natural flash, face detection, panorama, motion detection and tons other. And if one does not wish to or does not know how to work a camera yet, they can simply rely on Sony’s Intelligent Auto mode.
Cons
Heard to have a slow shooting performance, the camera has its downside. One and already mentioned glitch is that during video recording if one zooms in the sound of the buzz is recorded alongside. Another bad will be the fail to impress video quality result. It’s a tad noisy especially when working indoors. Apart from that the camera is a keeper.
