The intuitive 2.7-inch vari-angle LCD monitor is the first main attraction of the camera. The versatile Vari-angle screen can be viewed in normal, swung out, rotated or tilted position. This option of movement ollows user to go creative while performing Live View shooting. The new Vari-angle LCD cav swing around 90° and can rotates the picture by 180°, just as we would do it on out PC or laptop.

Nikon D5000 SLR features excellent 12.3 mega pixel with a standard zoom lens that has a 1.5 x focal zoom range for producing high resolution shoots for still photos and capturing videos. The D5000 offers brilliant photographic experience with continuous shooting as fast as 4 frames per second. In addition, the camera features advanced 3D Color Matrix Metering II for amazing exposure accuracy making the image crisp, 11-point selectable autofocus for just the right focus selection, and four Live View AF modes along with automatic exposure and white balance bracketing functions.

The Nikon D5000 inherits CMOS sensor instead of CCD sensor. Nikon's exclusive NIKKOR lens supported by the EXPEED image processing system exhibit supreme peformance in terms of bright colors and lower noise along with a wider ISO sensitivity range. Normal ISO sensitivity range for the camera lies between ISO 200 to 3200. For exceptional shooting versatility, a Hi 1 setting is made available that can enhance sensitivity to as high as ISO 6400 whereas a Lo 1 setting that can reduce it beyond range to ISO 100. The Nikon D5000 is comaptible with SD and SDHC memory cards.

Nikon D5000 is phenomenal with 19 scene modes for better picture clarity. Scene Modes ease point and shot experience with correct settings by adjusting exposure, white balance, Active D-lighting, and Picture Control settings depending on the chosen mode. The design is such that the 6 most commonly used modes can be selected using the mode dial on the back of camera, wheras the rest 13 modes can be accessed by setting the mode dial to SCENE and then rotating the command dial to choose the required. To make it user friendly, assisting in finding the best mode, the D5000 shows a sample picture on each mode selection to act as guidelines. The special modes available looking at the king of pictures being clicked are Candlelight, Pet portrait, Blossom, Autumn colors, Food, Silhouette, High key, and Low key.

Weighing 560 gms with the long lasting Rechargeable Li-ion Battery that renders around 510 shots in one charge. Overall, not the best in looks but still the camera is fast performer while shooting good quality photos and videos.
