Over all Review of Fujifilm X-S1 Point & Shoot
Fujifilm X S1 Point & Shoot camera comes with a 16.4 megapixels CMOS sensor and holds a 50x optical zoom. The burst mode speed is at 10fps for the first 9 full resolution images and the body of the camera is weather sealed. You get advanced filters for producing great images such as Miniature, Fish-Eye, Toy Camera, High Key, Soft Focus, Partial Colour, Cross Screen, Pop Colour, Low-Key and Dynamic Tone. You can also shoot 360-degree panoramas and high dynamic range images with 3 shots taken at different exposures and then joined. The camera will draw many shutterbugs to itself that look up for more zoom, Wi-Fi connectivity and a weather sealed body. With it, you can go out in any weather and share pictures with your tablets and smartphones for uploading on social networking sites. The camera is a bit expensive but if you are happy with the quality of the image on offer, which is not great though, then the rest of the camera would make up for itself. The device is, as it seems from specs, aimed at web sharing, as full-size view of the images is a bit disappointing.
Design and Build Quality
Fujifilm X S1 Point & Shoot camera has a DSLR type look. The handgrip is rubberized at the front and you have a large rubber patch for your thumb to rest at the rear. There is rubber band around the lens barrel that also aids in the grip. There is a zoom lever on the lens barrel and a zoom assist button that help you to review shots by easily zooming in and out. At the top of the camera, you have burst mode, power button, self-timer, shutter release, zoom rocker and mode dial features. Below the mode dial, there is a button for switching between EVF and LCD.
Also, there is a rotating wheel for adjusting aperture and shutter speed when you are in a relevant mode. The pop flash also comes with a button for it to be activated. At the rear, there are playback, movie record, Wi-Fi and display buttons. Speaking of Wi-Fi, you need to download the Fujifilm app for the camera, switch on the camera and then, press the Wi-Fi. Following which, you can link the smartphone with Wi-Fi to the cam and go to the app. The app is easy to work on, and if you want to go for remote control, then, you have to reconnect each device for transferring the images
Focus and Face Detection
Fujifilm X S1 Point And Shoot camera involves Manual, AF Tracking, Face detection and Multi features.
Lens and Image Stabilization
Fujifilm X S1 Point And Shoot camera uses a 50x optical zoom with a max aperture range of f/2.8 – f/5.6 and focal length range beginning from 24mm at wide-angle to 1200mm at telephoto angle, in 35mm terms. Coming to the lens' performance, the quality of images is disappointing at both the ends of the lens. The images seem to be heavily processed by the cam, resulting in smudging of details. In areas of contrast, the images show purple fringing. For macro mode, the minimum focusing distance is only 1cm, that means, you can get decent shots. Image stabilization is 3 stop lens shift based.
Screen and Menus
Fujifilm X S1 Point And Shoot camera uses a dpad for the menu system wherein, the menu button sits at the centre while the dpad allows access to function, macro, flash and self-timer. The function button can be assigned a number of settings like white balance, image quality, ISO and more. Menus are clearly laid out and are easy to use. The 3 inches wide screen offers brilliant 920k dots resolution images that can be flipped and rotated to any odd angle and when not in use, it can be turned away to face the camera's back to avoid scratches. The EVF gets turned on when you are not using the screen. EVF is bright and holds a 920k dots resolution. It also possesses a dioptre wheel for the user that suffers from eyesight problems.
Fujifilm X S1 Point And Shoot camera comes rated with a shot count of 350 shots as per CIPA testing standards - that is good for bridge cameras. The battery used is lithium-ion NP-85 and the camera gets shipped with an AC adapter named AC-5VT.
Fujifilm X S1 Point And Shoot camera records videos in Full HD resolution. The quality of videos is good and the focusing power - for both zooming in and out, is good. The noise of focusing does get picked up by the video's audio and comes out as disturbing. Other shoot resolutions are HD (1280 x 720 pixels) and VGA (640 x 480 pixels ). The frame rate used is of 60fps with the sound coming in stereo format.
Fujifilm X S1 Point And Shoot camera offers a CMOS type, 1/2.3-inch sized, 16.4 megapixels sensor. The width of the pixels is 4608 and height is 3456. The aspect ratios used are 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 and 1:1. Also, the ISO sensitivity range begins from ISO100, where the noise is low and image quality is not impacted negatively. The same continues till ISO800. At ISO1600, the images begin to become soft till ISO3200. Furthermore, there is a lot of detail drop at ISOs ISO6400 and 12800, where image sizes get limited to 8MP and 4MP, respectively.
