Over all Review of Fujifilm FinePix S4500 Point & Shoot

Fujifilm FinePix S4500 Point & Shoot Price

Overall Review

Fujifilm FinePix S4500 with its features stand side by side with the S4200. The camera comprises of 14 megapixels with a powerful super zoom of 30x optical zoom lens with a focal length of 24-720 mm. Inside of the camera you will find a 1/ 2.3 inch CCD sensor with a CCD shift anti-shake function. There is a manual shooting mode which can be accessed via the mode dial, thus giving photographers full control over the exposure. The ISO range is generous enough from 64 as it begins to a magnificent 6400 with boost. The photographs are composed using a 200,000-dot electronic viewfinder or the amazing 230,000-dot TFT color LCD rear screen. Other highlights include a 2cm super macro mode, plenty of scene modes including natural light, portrait, pets, night etc and also the amazing capability of recording full 720p HD movies. More so features SR Auto (Scene Recognition) and tracking autofocus. The camera works on AA type batteries, which is great when you are out travelling and is available in black alone. For its price and features combined the camera is one worthy buy.

Design and Build Quality

The camera’s body build is an SLR – like (bridge) type with a protruded structure on its right for your hand to grip it and gain more strength in your grip. Various buttons reside on the top shelf of the camera, with the zoom encircling your capture button. The 30X zoom lens rests on the front of the camera and has a manual flash resting on its top. Right behind the flash you find the electronic viewfinder and right below it is the LCD screen. The mode dial sits again, on the top next to the electronic viewfinder; in terms of texture the camera feels stolid. The dimensions are pretty decent too, with 118 mm x 81 mm x 100 mm being in approximate. Something you can carry with easy in your purse. And it weights a rather bulky 543 g, this might be a trouble but with the features it is offering you, you might want to overlook this. The camera is available in black alone.

Focus and Face Detection

In addition, Face Detection technology is included to automatically lock onto faces appearing in scene, and Fujifilm’s SR Auto modes will make light work of any situation, capturing the very best quality pictures no matter how technically challenging the exposure. The camera also offers a Super Macro mode that focuses down to 2cm for detailed photographs. The camera has a feature that detects faces specifically, thus optimizing people’s faces in the picture; it does so by adjusting focus and exposure to ensure vivid and proper photographs. In total the camera can detect up to 10 faces in one frame, this is amazing to ensure each face has been given its share due, for you can later crop and share it individually. In addition, the camera also has an automatic red-eye removal functions.

Lens and Image Stabilization

The cameras in this series have fascinating lenses, in particular Fujifilm FinePix S4500’s lens is an amazing 30x Fujinon optical zoom lens, better than its predecessor S4500’s 24x zoom lens. The lens is carefully put to not destroy image quality while managing to reach as maximally out as possible within your environment for greater and grander pictures. The plus point comes in the shape of the camera offering this great lens into compact, robust and easy to handle bodies. Additionally, the camera offers key performance improvements with regards to functions and speeds. This ensures the photographers all they need in order to capture high quality images in a wide range of conditions with ease and perfection. There is a Dual Image Stabilization present, this is the combination of high sensitivity and CCD shift image stabilization that ensures to kill blurs caused primarily by camera shakes, it does so by its freezing action and thus minimizing blurs even at maximum zoom range.

Screen and Menus

The S-series offers you two ways to compose your photographs, one’s the 230,000 dots electronic viewfinder (EVF) and the other’s the 3.0 inch LCD TFT color screen placed on the back of the camera. The screen offers a 230,000 dot resolution. It is pretty decent to play back your photographs and videos, even navigate your way through different settings. The camera works satisfactorily even in bright sunlight, in recent the LCD screens have an improved brightness which has given this camera’s screen more brightness and detailing as you use it. The menu system is not too complicated, you access it through the modes/dials present on the camera itself and then it’s easy after that.

Battery

FujiFilm FinePix S4500 is powered by four AA-type alkaline batteries; these are incredible considering they don’t have the baggage that cable cords carry. You don’t need a computer or a wall switch, you can travel and go out with ease and use these batteries to last long. The battery life according to the CIPA is about 300 images, which is compared to what the features are and how handy this camera can be is incredible.

Video Mode

In togetherness with captures, high quality stills both in fine and normal quality JPEGs, the camera is capable of recording 720p HD movies at a 30 frames per second rate, the result is pretty impressive and smooth, to the least. There is an HDMI output port given, which can be readily connected to any HD TV for your family to enjoy pictures and videos together on a larger screen.

Sensors

Inside these FinePix S-series cameras, like FujiFilm FinePix S4500, at the heart it carries Fujifilm’s original 1/2.3-inch 14 megapixel CCD sensor offering the famous image quality that users are so well accustomed to. In low-light situations, users can adjust the ISO from 64 up to 6400, which is very helpful considering how impossible cameras can be under low lit conditions. Also, moreover it uses Fujifilm’s proprietary CCD-Shift image stabilization to help keep images sharp.

Pros

• SR Auto shooting mode is accurate and easy in most situations
• 30x optical zoom lens provides amazing versatility
• Sensor Shift image stabilization keeps images crisp
• Nice, Bright 3.0-inch LCD and EVF
• Descent shooting performance
• Excellent Battery Life
• Versatile power options (use just about any AA type batteries)
• Competitively priced

Cons

• No dedicated video recording button, camera has to be put into movie mode to record
• Too much noise in images at any setting over ISO 800
• Missing all of the great EXR modes that Fuji can provide
• No HDMI output for HD movies on an HDTV
• No Diopter adjustment for the EVF
