The EOS 1100D comes with Digic IV image processor, which lets you record high resolution HD movies with 1280 x 720 resolutions. The smartly placed control buttons are basic and efficient. The mode dial sits on the top, close to the shoot button providing easy accessibility. The 1100D SLR has a Pentamirror viewfinder which offers 95 per cent field of view.

The 2.7 inch TFT LCD monitor offers a display resolution of 230000 dots. The 1100D supports SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards for storing all the images and videos. Powered by a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery, this camera can capture up to 700 images with viewfinder and up to 220 images with live view shooting at 23 degrees Celsius, when fully charged. With the help of mounting various lenses, a user can enhance photographic skills using different lens types. The EOS 1100D is compatible with Canon EF and Canon EF-S Lenses. The built-in retractable, auto pop-up flash covers a distance of 9.2 m (at ISO 100) and 13 m (at ISO 200). The Canon offers various Picture Styles which consist of Standard, Portrait, Landscape, Neutral and others. This camera comes with self-timer which gives a delay of 2 or 10 seconds for you to join your friends for a memorable group photograph. In the Continuous Shooting Mode, the Canon EOS 1100D clicks images at 3 fps in JPEG format, 2 fps in RAW format and 0.8 fps in Fine (RAW + JPEG)format.

The Canon 1100D has Anti-static coating on sensor surfaces which protect it from dust. There's a number of scene modes including Flash Off, Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Night Portrait and, oddly enough for an interchangeable-lens camera, a close-up mode as well. The majority of these scene modes allow users who do not want to fiddle with shutter speeds, f-stops, white balance or ISO settings. The available white balance settings are Auto, Daylight, Shade, Cloudy, Tungsten, Fluorescent, Flash and Custom; for the first time an EOS camera, the 1100D is also available in 3 different colors other than black - red, silver and brown - all with the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II lens.
Despite its budget price-tag, the Canon EOS 1100D is a approachable and sensitive camera that offers many of the key features of its bigger and more expensive class, the 600D , in a smaller and lighter body.
